BOLD FAITH INITIATIVE begins! The month of February features many important events! Ground Hog Day. Valentine Day. President’s Day. Birthdays of some famous Americans, like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, D L. Moody and Tim Lynch! And while all those events are significant, a primary focus for our
church family in February will be the BOLD FAITH INITIATIVE.
Our local minister’s organization C.A.M.A. has invited local churches to unite around
the theme of BOLD FAITH and join together as we encourage our congregations to go
to the next level in terms of trusting God to do big and mighty things in our individual
lives, in the life of our church family, and in our community, as well. Watch for the
signs across Branch County as believers lock arms and carry our faith forward.
Our Pastor’s have even written a Daily Devotional for our congregations, and it’s
available online at www.boldfaithinitiative.wordpress.com.
We’ll be announcing details for a joint Unity Service on the last Sunday of the month.
Jesus has some powerful words for His followers regarding unity (read John 17) and
we are challenging our congregations to look beyond some of our individual and
denominational distinctive and to embrace the cause of Christ as we seek to influence
the world around us. Jesus said that the distinctive identifying marks for us are that the
world will know us by our love.
GOD’S STILL “WHISPERING”: I HOPE MANY OF YOU FOUND OUR January
Sermon series on “WHISPERS” helpful to your walk with Christ. And I hope as you are
more aware of God’s prompting's and leading's that you’ll share your stories with me.
Maybe before Easter we could have a Sunday of testimonies? If you have an
experience you’d like to share, send me an email at pastordp@fbcofcoldwater.org .
YOUTH MINISTRY IS ALIVE AND WELL: A recent article in “The Daily Reporter” has
created a little confusion about the youth ministry at FBC. You all know we are in a
transition period and our search for a new Youth Pastor has been re-started. The
ministry has been carried on by a small group of volunteers led by Kip and Keri Gordon,
and Joe and Penny DeWitt. We can’t thank them enough for their labor of love and
commitment to the youth! Our former Friday Night Alive ministry has undergone
considerable changes as we try to offer a quality and manageable program to minister
to Junior and Senior High students. For correct news, watch our weekly church bulletin
and newsletter!
